Another place another time...

Another move... 2nd June 2007... 9th time in the last 10 years. It's interesting just to look back at how many places I've changed. Packing, moving, unpacking, repacking, moving etc. isn't just a hassle. It also serves as a reminder of how quickly the years just fly past. "Home is where the heart is". With each move, I leave behind & take with me a memory. Not always a good one but important lessons were definitely learnt.

Childhood at Whampoa was the nicest & most eventful. Of course, 21 years... how could anyone forget? It's a pity we moved from there, but Pa & I were out-voted by Ma. Woodlands is the land of Far, Far, Away. Got most of my Z's during transit between home & everywhere else. Though I won't complain about having my own room for the first time & maybe, it's not as far away as Jurong Extension. Haha. (Sorry, no offense to those who live there.) I mean, SG is just a little red dot & I know of people who have to travel hours to & from work/home. But still, time is just too precious to be wasted in transit. Then again... life is a journey isn't it? Oh, & I have a great love for Z's - it's a lifelong passion I hope to never outgrow. I contradict myself.

I do believe that having my own space is essential. It's about being independent & the need to know that I can be. It's also necessary to be comfortable with just myself. However, paying for my own roof (or rather, paying $$ itself) isn't any fun.. Especially when I was paying for too big a roof, naively thinking that the person I was supposed to share the roof with would also share the cost.. AND then still paying for that stupid roof even when I wasn't under it anymore, again thinking (like an idiot) that the $$ would fall back into my pocket when the stupid roof was sold. That lesson was learnt in the hardest way... cost me more than 30Gs & many years of stress. Oh well, it's ultimately a relief to be able to look back on that & know that it's over.

The first little space I called my own has its own sweet name ~ Rose Lane. Own bed, own TV, own bathroom & my favourite part.. huge built-in wardrobe space. Everything I needed was within an arm's length, except for the kitchen which I had little interest to step in cos' the other tenants had different "kitchen etiquette". Small space but sufficient. 10-15 minutes to/from work was nice too. Like now...

It was tough finding this place, especially with rents increasing & a tight budget. But I think I got a reasonable deal for a space smaller than the last few but bigger than Rose Lane. Took me 3 months to find it, including waiting time. Took me another 3 weeks to thoroughly clean out what seemed like was never cleaned before.

So I begin yet another "journey" in a new place & hope for another good memory to add to the collection.
